Nvidia's entry-level GPUs, based on GF106 and GF108, are set to release

the last suffix 6 and 8 are normally associated with the $50 and $100
price points respectively, the rumour suggests rather alarming prices of
$100 and $180 instead.
Furthermore, the article suggests that GF104 will release in early June as Geforce GTX 460 at $299 which seemingly contradicts news of the Geforce GTX 465's release.
It is clear that the GF10x series is creating considerably confusion in the rumour mill. Perhaps the GTX 465 is a limited product based on defective GF100 dies. Even so, it hardly makes sense for a $299 GF104 product priced against a HD 5850 which is barely overcome by the GF100 based GTX 470.
If you recall, the GF104 was set to be a competitor to the HD 5750/70 and the HD 5830 which fall in the $120-$230 range. Instead, GF106, which is apparently an entire step below, which is priced higher than the HD 5770 at $180. Even more remarkably, the GF108, which was initially expected to be a $50 budget card is rumoured at $100. However, the time frames are definitely plausible.
At this point, we will take these rumours for what they are - obscure rumours. In the short term, the Geforce GTX 470 and GTX 480 cards currently have decent availability, though it is unknown how long this will last. The cut down GF100 card, so far branded Geforce GTX 465 (previous GTX 460) is set for release in the first week of June. Beyond that is GF104, GF106 and GF108 and as we can observe, the rumours are speculative at best.
