Reported by on Thursday, June 17 2010 5:37 pm

Thus far, the consensus rumours suggest that GTX 460 is a GF104 based chip with 336 SP, 192-bit 768MB GDDR5. Clock speeds are expected to be 675/1350/1800, with a price of $230 and TDP of 150W. However, Fudzilla are now reporting that there will be two cards named GTX 460. The second GTX 460 will feature 1GB memory mated to a full 256-bit bus. More details...

No information on difference in clock speeds, specs, TDP or prices are available, but there might be a small difference. The recent HD 5670 640SP is a similarly confusing product, with two names for the same card. In this case, the two GTX 460s will be differentiated as GTX 460 768MB and GTX 460 1024MB. At least this is less confusing than the 8800 GTS 512 ending up faster than both the 8800 GTS 640 as well as the 8800 GTX. We would fancy a GTX 460 1GB to outperform the HD 5830, and if it is priced at $230, it could be a great buy. We also have a feeling that AMD will finally be forced to cut HD 5850's prices, at least to original MSRP levels of $259. Surely, with a maturing manufacturing process, the HD 5000 series cards have a far wider window for price cuts, if need be. We don't expect any major price wars this generation, however.

The release date is set for 12th July for both GTX 460s.
