European e-tailers are starting to list the 1GB version of Radeon HD 6950 in e-tail, with prices starting at €242 from Austrian e-tailer Lammer-Shop. Other e-tailers are listing the HD 6950 1GB in the €250 range, a good €15-20 cheaper than the standard HD 6950 2GB.

Most e-tailers list availability within "1-3 weeks". The final price of the HD 6950 1GB can be expected in the $270 range, and will offer tremendous value at that price point. NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 560 could be priced just below the HD 6950 1GB and with the HD 6870 dropping to $230, there's now no shortage of excellent options in the $200-$300 market.

The 1GB HD 6950 is also expected to have slightly lower power consumption than 2GB, though the "Max Power" rating is indicated to be the same 200W. Unless you are gaming above 1080p and/or have a penchant for high AA / high IQ settings, the 6950 1GB may prove to be good value. On the other hand, the extra $20-$30 for the 2GB version might make sense as a future-proof buy.
