S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is the third instalment of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. survival first-person shooter series, and is also the sequel to Shadow of Chernobyl.

Benchmark settings:

  • DirectX 11 rendering mode,
  • detail level set to Ultra preset,
  • tessellation enabled,
  • 4x multisample anti-aliasing, and
  • high quality space screen ambient occlusion

It is interesting to note that while AMD’s Radeon HD 6970 is faster than NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 570 in both single and dual card configurations, 3-way CrossFire scaling on Call of Pripyat is rather poor (2.4x) ; both the GeForce GTX 570 and GeForce GTX 580 in 3-way SLI are considerably faster (2.7x).

Scaling performance for 2-way remained similar, although there was a slight increase for 3-way – 2.5x for AMD and 2.75x for NVIDIA.

More improvements at 2560 x 1600 with 3-way CrossFire providing nearly 2.7x performance increase and 3-way SLI providing 2.8x.

Going from a single card to two cards, both AMD and NVIDIA offer nearly a 100% increase in frame rates. For 3-way configurations, NVIDIA has noticeably better scaling performance in Call of Pripyat.
