A Mac and PC all-in-one Millennium Falcon [Video]
There have been a lot of case mods over the years, some of them excellent, some good, and then some that just suck. This case mod, however, is nothing short of awesome and will definitely make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, regardless of which OS is your preference.
Most of the time when a Mac user wants to travel to the darkside and use Windows they'll load up something like BootCamp and off they go. For Windows-type PC, it's a little harder when it comes to using Mac OS X since you will have to travel the Hackintosh route to play around in that alternate OS universe.
That is unless you are case mod builder Ken Swallow and have a penchant for going where no-one else has gone before, and create an extremely unique case that houses both a Windows PC and a Mac OS X machine.
Yes you read that right, two complete machines and all in one case except this isn't just any ordinary case.
You see what Ken decided to do was to take a model of the Millenium Falcon and gutted it with the exception of what ever was used to make the model's sound effects, and replace it all with an MSI ATX motherboard and a Mac Titanium G4 motherboard.
Here's the breakdown of what exactly he used for each:
- Titanium G4 867Mhz powerPC
- 80 GB hard drive
- 1 GB memory
- MSI ATX P4M900M3 motherboard
- 3.20 Ghz processor
- 200 GB hard drive
- 1 GB memory
To that he added:
- Linksys wireless
- AirPort card
as well as lights and fans from both systems
Of course this kind of thing doesn't come cheap but if you are up for the run, head over to his Esty page and plonk down your $2,800; but you better hurry because he's only made one of these monsters.
Ken was also good enough to make a video showing of his creation which you can see here.
