Acer’s new 11-inch Chromebook comes with Intel’s Haswell processor in a new thinner chassis.
The C720 Chromebook comes with a 1.4 GHz dual-core Haswell-based Intel Celeron 2955U processor . The notebook is said to have a battery life of 8.5 hours. The 11.6-inch matte screen comes with a resolution of 1366 x 768, 4 GB RAM and a 16 GB SSD along with Wi-Fi connectivity. The Chromebook C720 has a thickness of 0.75 inches and weighs 2.76 pounds.
Acer mentioned that this will be the first of many configurations it will launch, and has also mentioned that there is a touchscreen model in the works. The device is available for pre-order from Amazon and Best Buy starting today from $249. This is the second Chromebook announcement of the week, following HP’s ARM-based Chromebook 11 announcement on Monday.
The Google India blog announced that this Chromebook, along with HP’s 14-inch Chromebook will be making their way to Indian shores by October 17. The Acer C720 Chromebook will be available in the country for $372, while the HP Chromebook 14 will cost $430. Google is bundling in a 100 GB of Drive storage for two years on these versions as well.
