A release date for Activision's new The Walking Dead FPS has surfaced, and the publisher also confirms a Wii U launch.
Activision's new The Walking Dead-themed shooter has just received an official release date, and the publisher has confirmed that the game will be launching for the Nintendo Wii U as well.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will hit shelves on March 29, 2013 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and Wii U.
Developed by Terminal Reality, Survival Instinct has nothing to do with Telltale's adaptations and will feature characters like Merle and Daryl Dixon from AMC's hit television series, and will stay true to the franchise's blend of drama, action and horror.
In December we reported on the game's first footage, where Terminal Reality's own Glenn Gamble sits down to talk about many the in-game mechanics and emphasis on teamwork:
"So if I find an axe, I can use the axe or give it to someone else and say 'Hey, go find me food with this axe'. Conversely, if I find some food–healthpacks are food in this game–and someone else is injured, they will use it heal themselves.
The resources are in a shared pool–so it's all shared. You not only have to manage what you've got but manage what everyone else has as well."
It will be interesting to see how Survival Instinct's gameplay is developed for the Wii U, and how the experience varies from that of the other platforms….especially if the game utilizes the Wii U's tablet interface as an extra screen during gameplay.
