Activision’s The Walking Dead game to be named Survival Instinct
Activision sheds some light on their upcoming first-person shooter based on AMC's award-winning TV series, including an official title and story details.
Despite all of the zombie shooters on the market today, gamers have always wanted a first-person shooter based on AMC's definitive The Walking Dead series. Activision answered the call by announcing that a co-operative FPS based on the hit TV show is in the works for current gen consoles and PC,sending a surge of anticipation through the gaming world.
Up until now the game was simply known as "The Walking Dead Video Game", but Activision has just revealed it's true form: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct focuses on Merle and Daryl Dixon–two tough-as-nails brothers and main characters of the television show–and takes place before the events of Atlanta and Herschel Greene's farm.
The game's announcement trailer shows hints and clues to the game's dark and horror-infused atmosphere, and keeps true to the show's signature gritty, terrifying style. In terms of gameplay footage, however, the game is still in the dark as no actual in-game video or screenshots have been released.
In the game players take on the role of the Daryl, the deadly crossbow-wielding hunter, and accompanied by his somewhat psychopathic brother Merle, they must scrounge for food, water, and ammo in order to survive.
TWD: Survival Instinct puts emphasis on basic everyday neccessities–like food and shelter–as well as the instinctual and animalistic reflexes to kill or be killed. Players must use their wits and skills to survive encounters with marauding ghouls and flesh-eating zombies, using both their brains and braun to stay alive in the hellish world.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is coming in 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. For more information and to watch the official trailer, please visit the game's official website.
