Ken Mandel, Chairman of Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and Digital Advertising Alliance

  • Online ad spending in Singapore grew 48% over the previous year (FY2009), topped S$95M in FY2010
  • Growth was primarily driven by the increase in both search and display advertising
  • Travel & Leisure, Technology & Telecommunications, Financial Services and Business services & Property are the key industries in online advertising revenues but Financial Services was the highest . They made up 57% of the advertising market in the H2 2010
  • Classified ads is growing in popularity in Singapore

Joe Nguyen, VP of comScore SEA

  • Google to break 1 Billion global visitors in coming months and will be the first ever site to accomplish that
  • Although Asia Pac accounts for 40% of total internet visitors, the region only accounts for 27% of traffic to Google sites. The missing piece is China.
  • While Facebook growth is slowing in some countries such as US, Canada and UK, it is still seeing good growth in countries such as Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. Facebook is the No.1 site in Philippines with 93.8% penetration
  • There are 2.19M facebook users in Singapore and still maintains strong lead over Twitter and Linkedin
  • Japan, Indonesia, Philippines & Singapore love twitter and there are more female twitter users in Singapore. 17% of women in April, compared to only 13% of men
  • There are more female internet users in Singapore than men. Also true for Hong Kong, Russia, New Zealand, and US.
  • 58% of the total Singapore population watch videos online and each viewer watches an average of 110 videos per month
