Alleged iPhone 5S camera module leaks, separate LED flash component likely
An alleged iPhone 5S camera module has leaked. The picture shows it being compared with its counterpart on the iPhone 5. There’s a striking difference, it appears that Apple’s next generation iPhone might have a separate LED flash component.
As you can see in the picture posted above, the LED flash is connected to the camera module itself through a ribbon on the iPhone 5. Now take a look at the alleged iPhone 5S camera module, there’s no flash. All we can see is the camera sensor and a ribbon that hooks up to the motherboard. Obviously we can’t expect Apple to remove flash from the iPhone altogether, this must mean that a separate LED flash component might be installed in the iPhone 5S, which would result in better low light performance.
Rumor is that the iPhone 5S will come with dual LED flash. In that case, a standalone flash component makes perfect sense. The dual LED flash is expected to be on the right side of the camera lens, it would apparently be shaped like a pill. The picture was originally posted online by the folks at Nowhereelse, they don’t say anything about the quality of the alleged iPhone 5S module. So it is not known right now whether it is a 12 megapixel camera that most people expect Apple to put in to its next generation iPhone.
We’re definitely going to see a new iPhone in the coming months. Rumor has it that the official announcement will take place in the first week of September.
