AMD has decided to postpone the launch of the AMD 690 series chipsets from the original schedule 8th of Feb to end of February and did not provide a firm launch date. Motherboard makers are worried the launch date might be pushed back further into March or later. Sources told us that AMD doesn’t have enough chipsets on hand probably due to lack of supply or worse lack of demand. Also the HDMI feature is limited to 720p right now. On another story, we heard that there are still lots of Socket 754 processors in the market and till now customers are still demanding for them but there is a lack of Socket 754 boards. Transition to Socket 939 and AM2 won’t be easy for AMD it seems.
