AMD Athlon 64 Chipsets Roundup


Here is the ALi board colored in dark blue. It
has a bigger than usual capacitor just beside the mosfets as you can see. The
dimm slots are placed far enough from the AGP so no card removal is needed for
changing of rams, a problem some boards seem to suffer from. It also takes the
12v power line as seen from the connector.


Ali placed a black heatsink over
its Northbridge and this does its job well as during testing it doesn’t heat
up too much, only a little warm to touch.


And here is the Ali M1563
Southbridge.


The 2 mounting holes in accordance to AMD K8’s
standards is seen here. The extra 4 holes around the socket is not bored
through.
