AMD Dual Core CPU Info


AMD has published some information on their Dual core processors in a AMD64
status report for Kernel Summit took place in Ju. AMD has suggested to developers that software be
licensed based on number of populated sockets, scheduled based on number of
cores. In order for software to distinguish sockets from cores, an unique
initial APIC ID must be assigned to all cores and a new extended CPUID function
will return on any core the number of cores in the associated socket. AMD has also added in SSE3 support into their Dual core
processors which has confirmed our previous news on
Rev E Dual Core CPUs.
Also added are some simple instruction fixes and additions.
