The Magny Cours CPUs will fit into the elongated G34 socket - which accomodates 1974 pins. Clock speeds are expected to be scaled down to deliver maximum power efficiency.
Magny Cours is expected to be a server-only CPU, thanks to its specialised socket G34. It has been rumoured in the past that a desktop version of the six-core Istanbul may be possible for the AM3 socket - although this possibility does not exist on the AMD roadmap. Magny Cours, as per the AMD roadmap, is the last major new product from AMD till the next-generation Bulldozer architecture hits stores in 2011.
