AMD Opteron x85 CPUs On March 7th

AMD server owners will get a nice 200MHz per core speed upgrade with the Opteron 185, 285 and 885 series CPU. The Opteron 185 is virtually identical to the Athlon FX-60 — 2.6GHz per core, 2x1MB L2 cache, 90nm SOI process. The Opteron 185 still features the Denmark (A6CD) core and remains a Socket 939 component. The Opteron 285 continues the Italy (A6CD) core as well. The Opteron 285 and 885 are Socket 940 components only. The 1xx series Opterons only feature a single HyperTransport interconnect. Vendors will have Opteron 185, 285 and 885 processors in stock on the March 7, 2006 launch date.
