Android 3.0 Honeycomb Tablets Hit Taiwan Market

Taiwan is blessed with the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets from ASUS and Acer as they are now selling in a local PC exhibition taking place this week. These proved to be selling pretty well as the lack of Apple iPad 2 in their market spurs consumers to turn to other (better) alternatives. ASUS's Eee Pad Transformer and Acer's Iconia Tab A500 are both powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and sport a 10.1" screen. The 32GB version costs NT$16900 (US$583) for the Eee Pad Transformer and NT$18200 (US$628) for the Iconia Tab. If you intend to get the Eee keyboard dock, you can buy it separately for NT$3000 (US$103).

There are still quite a number of other tablets on sale around the show and one particular tablet stands out from the rest is the Viewsonic ViewPad 10s which is powered by Tegra 2 and sports a 10.1" screen but on an older Android 2.2 Froyo. It is one of the cheapest 10.1" tablets around at NT$12900 (US$445).
