Android Ice Cream combines both Gingerbread and Honeycomb; scheduled to launch within six months

At this year's Mobile World Congress, Google chief executive officer Eric Schmidt said that the new version of Android will be launched within six months. The naming convention will follow their rules, whereby the starting letter is "I" (after Honeycomb). The upcoming Android mobile operating system will also combine the features of both Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

From various sources, the next Android version could be the rumored Ice Cream, or Ice Cream Sandwich. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is incorporated on smartphones, while Android 3.0 Honeycomb is preinstalled on tablet devices. The new Android software is said to be capable of running on both smartphones and tablets.
