Rovio has finally launched Angry Birds on Facebook, along with several new features, including power-ups and Facebook-exclusive levels.

The popular bird-flinging mobile game is now open to Facebook's more than 845 million members just in time for Valentine's Day, giving lovers and loveless alike an outlet to vent frustration on hapless little pigs hiding beneath wood and stone constructs.

The Facebook version is not just a clone of the smartphone and tablet game, however, as there are many unique elements that take advantage of social networking. For example, Facebook friends can give each other gifts and power-ups, players can compete against each other, and scores can be shared.

There are several unique power-ups, which can be earned in game, gained as gifts from friends, or bought with real cash. The initial four include a Sling Scope for precision targeting, a King Sling to improve power and velocity, Super Seeds to increase the size of your birds, and Birdquake to cause splash damage.

“This launch is just the beginning for Angry Birds on Facebook,” said Petri Järvilehto, SVP of Game Publishing at Rovio. “We have great new features and gameplay lined up for the fans in the upcoming weeks. Angry Birds on Facebook will offer a unique experience for our fans, and we’re really excited to finally be on the platform.”

As part of the launch festivities Rovio is offering 14 free power-ups to Facebook players between now and 16 February. The game be played here.
