The one day sales event, limited to select Asian markets, celebrates the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Apple conducts various region specific sales events around the world, most recently it brought back the “Lucky Bag” sale in Japan to mark the beginning of the new year. The Lunar New Year is a big event in itself in various Asian markets, so in honor of that, Apple will once again be hosting its “Red Friday” sale, and just like last year, it will offer discounts on its products through physical retail stores, the Apple online store as well as through the App Store.
Quite a few Asian countries are eligible for this one day sales event. Customers in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and South Korea will be able to take advantage of the sale. Despite confirming the event, Apple hasn’t revealed exactly what sort of discounts it will be offering, that will only be known come January 10. Just like last year, it is expected that select Macs, iPads, iPods and a number of accessories will receive modest price cuts.
Red Friday is actually quite similar to the Black Friday shopping event, Apple took part in those festivities as well, offering gift cards in the U.S. and direct discounts on selected products in European countries.
