iOS 7 is on the horizon, and we know we can expect a complete revamp of the visual aspects of the software, designed to give it a fresher look in the face of increasing competition.

Jony Ive, VP of Industrial Design, is heading the redesign project, and while lips are mostly tightly-sealed, some information about the direction of the new user interface has leaked out.

A number of UI elements will be changed to a more simplistic black and white style, with square buttons changing to round ones, while heavy textures, supported by Apple's co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, will be abolished for an overall cleaner and more elegant look.

The information generally matches comments made by Ive elsewhere. The changes could help take the somewhat dated look off iOS and might even help Apple appeal more to business customers, who will be looking for a more professional design motif.

iOS 7 will be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
