It comes with a whole new feature as well as a completely revamped user interface. Since quite a lot of users have jumped up from its predecessors, iOS 6 distribution has fallen to 22 percent. The remaining four percent is accounted for by earlier versions of iOS. In less than three months, iOS 7 distribution has reached new heights, making it Apple’s first OS update to have been adopted so quickly.

Apple’s official numbers substantiate a recent report by ad firm Chitika, its data also pegged iOS 7 adoption in the high 70 percent range. The number is bound to go up in the coming weeks, as more users press the trigger on the update. Due to longer lifespans of some iOS devices that aren’t capable with the latest update, some fragmentation will remain.
