ASRock Deluxe4 motherboards sport USB 3.0 front panel header
ASRock is preparing two AMD Socket AM3 Deluxe4 series motherboards: the 890FX-Deluxe4 based on AMD’s 890FX chipset, and the 890GX-Deluxe4 based on AMD’s 890GX chipset. What is interesting on these two boards is the implementation of not one, but two USB 3.0 controllers. Why the need for two controllers?
ASRock is working on two AMD Socket AM3 based motherboards, called the 890FX-Deluxe4 which uses AMD’s flagship 890FX chipset, and the 890GX-Deluxe4 which uses the 890GX chipset.
Unlike all other motherboards which have only one 2-port USB 3.0 controller (both ports end up on the rear I/O), the Deluxe4 motherboards will have two 2-port USB 3.0 controllers. Two ports will be available on the rear I/O, while another two ports will be available as a front-panel header – great news for users with cases that already have USB 3.0 capable ports!
Both the 890FX-Deluxe4 and 890GX-Deluxe4 support ATI CrossFireX technology. The 890GX-Deluxe4 supports Hybrid CrossFire with the integrated Radeon HD 4290. There are a total of eight SATA 6Gbps ports; six from the AMD SB850 southbridge, and the other two from a third-party controller.
While there is no official word on pricing, we estimate that these boards would cost around US$150 approximately.
