A poster for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has recently leaked, confirming the rumors of a pirate-themed prequel, and new details such as the game's protagonist, setting, and time-frame have also been revealed.
Avast ye landlubbers: a poster for the next Assassin's Creed game has recently leaked onto the internet, solidifying the recent rumors of a possible pirate-theme for Ubisoft's new stealth adventure.
According to the poster, Ubisoft's new title will be labeled Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and will feature a new adventure that takes place in the 1700's with Edward Kenway–Haytham's father and Connor's grandfather–as the assassin protagonist. The artwork itself shows the deadly assassin confidently wreaking havoc aboard the deck of a pirate ship, taking out scurvy-addled scallywags with a black flag rippling in the wind above.
Edward Kenway, the less-than-virtuous hero of AC4: Black Flag.
The swashbuckling Edward Kenway has been reported as a "privateer, assassin, and an occasional pirate", which may suggest that this game's hero may be less virtuous than Altair, Ezio, and the others.
This information fits in with the description that Ubisoft's CEO gave about the new game, as he claimed that the new Assassin's Creed game would feature "an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period."
