crosshair v formula Asus Crosshair V Formula leaks, of sort

Mr Blurrycam has struck once again, although it's not as bad as sometimes and it gives us a pretty good overview of Asus' upcoming Crosshair V Formula motherboard based on the AMD 990FX chipset, especially in combination with the specifications that leaked earlier. It confirms the four x16 PCI Express slots, but unlike the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7, we're looking at a total of six slots which makes the last x16 slot pretty pointless.

That said, the boards primary slot is always in x16 mode, with the second and third slot sharing bandwidth and the fourth slot being a x4 slot. The board also has a single x1 PCI Express slot and a PCI slot, both of which will be blocked if dual slot graphics cards are used. On the other hand, if only two dual slot cards are used, you do at least have a spare x4 PCI Express slot which might just come in handy for some of the upcoming PCI Express SSDs.

It's hard to tell any real details from the picture, but at least the leaked spec sheet has already confirmed most of the features. The heatsinks are using yet another new design, but we have to say that we preferred the more angular heatsinks on the Crosshair IV Formula. Well, we'll find out more details come Wednesday next week when Asus is holding a special R.O.G. press conference at Computex, so check back with us then for more details.
