Silence has been the trend these days. Various graphics card makers are outdoing each other with more elaborate cooling solutions that boast to be quieter and just as efficient. For the N6600GT Silencer, ASUS totally removed the fan for total silence. Just how did they do it?
NVIDIA’s GeForce 6600GT has been around in the market for quite some time now.
However, this is one of the most popular mid-range cards in the market. Today, we take a look at ASUS’s latest offering in this mass market
segment, the ASUS N6600GT Silencer. This card is not the typical PCI Express based
GeForce 6600GT found in market. Instead, it is a totally fanless card which ASUS
took effort to design a heat-piped cooling solution for it. With heat-pipes
extending to a full copper fin stacker from the main heart of the heatsink,
the card sure looks heavy weight when compared against the rest that are available in the
market. Also, this card is one of the few that has 256MB GDDR3 configuration
whereas the typical 6600GT cards comes with only 128MB of memory.
The packaging of ASUS N6600GT Silencer. Warning! The packaging box
is extremely large, even larger then most motherboard packaging!
The heatsink on the N6600GT Silencer. It is massive and is made
of full copper. This protruding heatsink certainly screams for attention.
