Making its debut during Mobile World Congress 2013 alongside the Padfone Infinity, the Asus Fonepad (7" tablet with 3G and Voice Calling capabilities) will start selling in Singapore this weekend at all three major telcos (Singtel, M1 and StarHub).

Powered by a single core 1.2GHz Intel Atom Lexington Z2420 (essentially a downclocked Medfield for budget markets), the Fonepad features an almost identical chassis design and the 1280×800 IPS panel of Asus's uber successful Nexus 7 tablet, with the added advantage of having a built-in HSPDA+ radio and the rather useful ability to make and receive voice calls. It also has a microSD expansion slot (on top of 8GB of internal storage) and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Battery life is rated at up to 9 hours of media playback and 751 hours of 3G standby from its 16Wh Li-polymer pack.
