ASUS and VR-Zone held an online overclocking competition 'ASUS Overclocking Showdown' from May 28 to June 30 last month. The competition required participants to run Futuremark's PCMark 7 benchmark and submit their scores. Points were given on a daily basis based on the ranking of their PCMark 7 scores (higher ranking earns more points). Even though strict rules and regulations were posted, it did not hinder 14 of the forum members from participating.
Intense competition took place in the first two weeks with everyone trying hard to clinch the first position in the daily ranking. There was a lull during the third week before one of the participants, Louislkw took over the number one spot from shrek in the daily ranking. With just five days to go, the PCMark 7 score of 7005, propelled Louislkw from an overall ranking of 4th to 2nd by the end of the competition, making it one of the highlights of this event.
