Remember that new Asus Z77 motherboard we reported about the other day? It appears that the P8Z77-V Premium is almost ready for launch, as now a collection of much more detailed pictures have made an appearance online, courtesy of a subsidiary Asus website, although since then the pictures have been pulled.

Luckily we grabbed the pictures before that happened, so we can shed some more light on the P8Z77-V Premium. It looks like most of our conclusions where correct with regards to the features of the P8Z77-V Premium, but we did miss a couple of things. For starters, the board has four additional SATA 6Gbps ports which suggest that there should be one 3Gbps eSATA port alongside the six SATA 6Gbps, three SATA 3Gbps ports and of course an mSATA slot.

Unlike the P8Z77-V Deluxe, the P8Z77-V Premium also appears to sport dual Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports if our eyes don't deceive us. It has also been suggested by some websites that the board will ship with a 32GB mSATA SSD and we'd guess we're looking at a Marvell powered mSATA SSD due to the fact that it sports DRAM cache, but we couldn't say for sure and we haven't managed to find another mSATA SSD that looks the same.

The board also has an ASMedia controller for a pair of extra USB 3.0 ports, although it appears that the P8Z77-V Premium has fewer USB 3.0 ports in total than the P8Z77-V Deluxe, as it only seems to have four rear ports and two front ports. Asus seems to have implemented around 20 power phases on the board, but it's a little bit hard to tell once again, due to the angles of the pictures.

As for Thunderbolt support, well, it appears we were right once again, as although we haven't been able to locate the physical Thunderbolt chip on the motherboard, if you look just above the third PCI Express x16 slot on the board, Asus has spelled out Thunderbolt on the PCB which pretty much gives it all away, despite the cropped rear I/O picture which doesn't show the mini DisplayPort connector. Note that the text was photoshopped out on the picture above, but not on the one below.

Now all we need is an official launch date and that US$300 plus price tag to have close to the full picture of this board, but this isn't likely to appear for a couple of days at least. We're not entirely sure that Asus got the mix of features right on this board, but it's most definitely as feature packed as it gets, as long as you can afford it.
