ASUS launched the Transformer Pad Infinity, a tablet that we've followed since its appearance way back in January, on the sidelines of CES 2012, where its full-HD Super IPS+ screen made waves. The 10.1-incher, when paired with its Mobile Dock, transforms into a productive notebook-like computing device, complete with a QWERTY keyboard, a multi-touch trackpad, additional connectivity, and additional battery life. The Transformer Pad Infinity is available in two gorgous brushed-metal color options, Champagne Gold and Amethyist Grey.

A star-attraction with the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity is its 10.1-inch Super IPS+ screen, which sports a stellar 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, hence 16:10 aspect-ratio, and 178°/178° viewing angles. Powering the beast is an NVIDIA Tegra 3 T33 quad-core ARM SoC clocked at 1.60 GHz, with 12-core GeForce graphics that provides full-HD video acceleration, and enough computational power for full-HD tablet gaming. The Transformer Pad Infinity also inherits some of the engineering experience ASUS gained with designing its Xonar family of high-performance audio devices. Deployed with this device is what ASUS calls SonicMaster Sound Technology, a combination of high-grade hardware DACs, and software DSPs, for high-quality audio output.

The panel design of the Transformer Pad Infinity is derived from that of the Zenbook, of aluminum brushed in circular patterns. The aluminum part of its body is nearly monolithic, and helps it achieve a thickness of just 8.5 mm, and a weight of 598 g. The tablet is driven by Google's Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" OS, with a few UI customizations by ASUS. Interface features include multi-touch screen, multi-touch trackpad (mobile dock), QWERTY keyboard (mobile dock), USB, multi-format card reader (mobile dock), and a pair of cameras (8 megapixel rear, 2 megapixel front). The tablet has 64 GB of internal storage, and ASUS provides 8 GB of free cloud-based storage, which can be expanded at a premium. Wi-Fi b/g/n is the only network connectivity.
