Asus unveiled the 10.1-inch Transformer Book T100 hybrid that runs a full-fledged version of Windows 8.1 today at the Intel Developer Forum. The device will be available in October for $349.
The Transformer Book T100 features a detachable form factor: remove it from its keyboard dock and it becomes a 10.1-inch tablet that runs Windows 8.1. The device features a screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768, a 1.33 GHz quad-core Intel Bay Trail-T Z3740 CPU, 2 GB of memory and a 1.2 MP camera at the front.
The device comes with a micro USB port for charging, a micro-HDMI port along with a micro-SD card reader and a standard 3.5 mm audio jack while the keyboard dock connector doubles as a USB 3.0 port. The Transformer Book T100 comes with a 31Whr battery that is claimed to give a battery life of 11 hours, thanks to the inclusion of the energy-efficient Bay Trail processor. The tablet when combined with the dock weighs 2.4 lbs, and by itself weighs 1.2 lbs.
The T100 will be available in two different storage variations: a 32 GB model being available for $349 and the 64 GB for $399.
Expect the Transformer Book T100 to be available in stores starting October 18th.
