C51G powered with NV44 GFX core

NVIDIA WILL INDEED have an integrated graphic core for its Athlon Nforce 4 supporters. We are not sure about the final name as it’s too early for that, but the chipset itself comes under the codename of C51G.
It’s paired with a new south bridge codenamed MCP05. This means that if Nvidia wants to bring integrated graphics into Athlon 64 chipset segment it had to make a dual chip design. It will follow a traditional north bridge and south bridge design.

Nvidia will sample these chips in February while multiple production is expected in April. I guess we should be able to see boards based on C51G+MCP05 chipset at CeBIT 2005.

C51G Northbridge will feature the soon to be introduced NV44 graphic card. NV44 desktop version will end up as 6600TC (Turbo cache) and I guess that Nvidia will use turbo cache marchitecture to use system memory more efficiently than before.

Nvidia also says that its chipset is designed for UMA (Unified Memory mArchitecture), which clearly indicates that Nvidia will use the same memory for system and graphic tasks.

The Nvidia MCP05 south bridge is code named MCP05 and should feature S-ATA 2 support, DDR memory and HD (High Definition) audio. We’d like to believe that this is Sound Storm 2 but we cannot confirm or deny it. We know its HD audio and that’s it.

We don’t have details about LAN support but I am sure that Nvidia might squeeze its 1Gb card in that chipset. Overall it looks like a promising chipset. µ
