It is sad to see the good old Athlon XP family to finally reach end of their
life to make way for the Sempron Family on target for launch on Aug 17th. Athlon
XP 2500+ and below has reached EOL with immediate effect while 2600+/2700+ will
reach EOL on 17th July. The Athlon XP 2800+, 3000+ and 3200+ will all be gone by
end of Q3 this year.

According to our sources, AMD has added a new lower speed Sempron 2400+
(1.67Ghz) to the upcoming Sempron Socket A line up comprising of 2500+
(1.75Ghz), 2600+ (1.83Ghz), 2800+ (2.0Ghz) as well as Socket 754 3100+ (1.8Ghz).
Also some good news for the enthusiasts who are waiting for cheaper Socket 939
Athlon 64 processors to come along. The Athlon 64 3200+ and 3000+ will arrive
earlier this quarter instead of Q4 and they should be much more
affordable.
