For testing of the ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition, we are using a beta version of ATI’s Catalyst 4.12 drivers, along with ATI’s Catalyst Control Center.

Feature wise, the ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition is equipped with the same display options as previous generations, supporting up to two displays.

The Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering options also remain the same, with AA sampling up to 6X and AF sampling up to 16X. A recent addition to ATI’s Catalyst driver is Catalyst A.I., a series of driver based optimizations that allow for better performance in selected games (mainly Doom 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004). We’ll be testing the ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition with Catalyst A.I. set to disabled and set to its maximum setting to show how it effects the R480’s performance in today’s popular games.

And finally we have the Overdrive section of the Catalyst Control Center, allowing you to monitor temperature settings and allow for a driver-based overclock of your GPU and memory.
