ATI made a net income of US$ 47.4 million on record revenues of US$ 469.7 million in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2004. The sales revenue was at the top of the range predicted in November and was 40 percent up relative to the first quarter of fiscal 2003 and 23 percent ahead of the fourth quarter of fiscal 2003, the company said. The net income doubled compared with $ 22.7 million net income made in the fourth quarter of 2003 and compared even better with a net income of $ 7.3 million made in the same period a year ago. ATi attributed the performance to strong demand for desktop discrete products, based on ATI’s increasing penetration of the add-in-board and system integrator markets. The company said it sees further improvements in the PC market ahead and that it anticipates its results for the second quarter of fiscal 2004 will be stronger than typical seasonality. ATI expects revenues to be in the range of $ 430 million to $ 470 million.
