The Australian government has commenced laying fibre-optic cables in Tasmania as part of an ambitious plan to connect 90% of homes to a high-tech broadband network. The massive project, reportedly worth a whopping USD37 billion, has garnered interests from the US and other countries which have similar plans. This is certainly no easy task considering the vast Australian deserts and mountains!
