B is a remote controlled quadrocopter car on Kickstarter

"B" is an ambitious Kickstarter project by a PhD student to create a remote control flying car.

Witold Mielniczek is a PhD student who is working on an ambitious project. Titled "B", he hopes to fund his project of building a remote controlled quadrocopter (flying car) with the help of Kickstarter. Witold has previously won a contest hosted by DARPA with his Unmanned Aerial Vehicle dubbed HALO.

Fast on the road and in difficult terrain, agile in the air – Go beyond the limits!

"B" is a regular remote controlled car until a switch is flicked and the four propellers housed within the wheels come to life and allow "B" to fly for a whole 15 minutes. A 720p HD camera and a microSD card slot is on board as well.

  • Vertical take-off and landing.
  • Able to transition on the move between driving, flying and back again.
  • Up to 15 minutes of action on a single charge.
  • HD (1280 x 720 px) camera on-board with recording capability.
  • An experience which has not been possible within one package before.
  • Durable construction that is designed with punishing terrain in mind.

The working prototype for this ambitious project appears to work as advertised on its Kickstarter page. As usual, there are various levels of pledging to the project with £125 being the minimum amount required to receive a 'self-assemble' kit of the quadrocopter. Witold is expecting a rough expenditure of about 86,500 in developing the car. First finished products are expected to start shipping by December this year. If you're interested in pledging for this Kickstarter project or wish to order a quadrocopter for yourself, head on to the project's Kickstarter page (via the source link posted below).
