Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, a revamp of the popular BioWare role-playing game, will launch on the iPad and PC, complete with a new user interface and multiplayer support.

Overhaul Games will release the updated title on all versions of the iPad, along with full touchscreen functionality, as well as the game's classic home, the PC.

The under 2GB download will include all content from the original game, its expansion Tales of the Sword Coast, and some totally new content developed by the game's original developers, who previously worked at BioWare. This content will include new characters, quests, and adventures. Presumably there will be new landscape for some of this.

Additional updates will include modernised graphics, a new UI, and a variety of other unannounced improvements that the studio is promising will be noticeable. Saving on the cloud is a feature they are working on, as is the ability to full mod the game. Some popular mods made by players over the years might even become part of the official game.

Overhaul Games previously revamped the old favourite, MKD2, adding completely updated high-definition graphics. The studio is also planning to redo Baldur's Gate 2 and is even considering an enhanced version of Planescape: Torment. The Icewind Dale series is another hinted at option for a revamp.

The iPad version is expected to retail for around $10. It is not yet clear if the PC version will be the same, but we expect it won't be far off.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will launch sometime this Summer.
