Barts Die Shot and Drivers Leaked

Reported by on Thursday, October 14 2010 2:49 pm

With just one week to go to the release of Radeon HD 6800 series, based on Barts, substantial leaks and information are finally starting to appear. A Chiphell poster has leaked blurred picture of a Barts die. Like Juniper, it is rectangular in shape, but rotated 45 degrees, like Cypress, and features a very similar package. This is no surprise, as Barts is pin-compatible with Cypress. The Barts die is compared to Cypress, and a rough die size is posted (albeit with dubious measurement methods) of 230 mm2. Additionally, a Radeon HD 6800 driver has leaked at Station-Drivers. Read on for more...

Barts Die Shot and Drivers Leaked

A mysterious and unnamed Catalyst 1x.x driver has popped up at Station-drivers. The version is 8.782 and is WHQL certified. Crucially, it is "For Radeon HD 6800 Series". A look at the driver's inf files reveals the following strings:

"Radeon HD 6800 Series" = ati2mtag_NI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6738
"Radeon HD 6800 Series " = ati2mtag_NI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6739

Indeed, the driver does support the Radeon HD 6800 series. The device IDs are 6738 and 6739, which refer to Barts XT and Barts PRO respectively, according to the famous leaked drivers.
