A new standard of SD cards will be making its way ready for retail somewhere in 2010, giving you lots more of storage space and faster read/write access. Termed as SDXC (SD Xtended Memory), lets see what it have to offer

A new standard of SD cards will be making its way ready for retail somewhere in 2010, giving you lots more of storage space and faster read/write access.

Termed as SDXC (SD Xtended Capacity), lets see what it have to offer:

Massive Storage

With the demand for more storage, these new standard of SD cards allows a scaling up to 2TB of space. This is a welcoming advantage, allowing more to be saved for HD quality content.  For starters, the early SDXC cards to retail will be up to 128GB models.

Faster Speed

Increased bandwidth for data transfer has allowed SDXC cards to scale up to 300MB/s, the cards to first retail will start with 52MB/s. A significant advantage as compared to the existing SDHC cards.

According to this source, SDXC cards will be available for reatil in early 2010.
