Titanic Billionaire to make full size Titanic replica

Australian billionaire Clive Palmer is planning on blowing quite a sum on…wait for it… a replica of the Titanic.  I’m not talking about some 1/1,000 scale model of the maiden that sank to the bottom of the sea, but a full-size replica!

The design is being done in Europe, and construction of the boat will begin at the end of this year in China.  According to Palmer, the Titanic 2 will retain 98 percent of the original Titanic design, with the 2 percent difference reserved for accommodating modern standards and regulatory requirements.

“You’ll have the exact same cabins as the original Titanic.  If you want to go in third class, eat potatoes… dance around in circles with an Irish band, you’ll be able to do it,” said Palmer.

Why would anyone want to embark on such a journey to restore the past?  According to Palmer, because cause he can.

“John Kennedy said in the 60’s, we choose to go to the moon, we choose to go to the moon cause we can go there.  So we got individual choices to do that.  I’ve got the money.  So I can do it.  I can go to the moon, I can build the Titanic,” he said.

We’re all hoping that Palmer isn’t intending to replicate the iceberg also.
