Notice my using of the plural “smartphone” form? That’s because the A10, present in the rumor mill for quite some time, might get a chaperone on its way to the market. But first things first, let’s mention the A10 is now expected to be marketed as the Z30.
That makes it pretty clear we’re looking at a (much) improved version of the BlackBerry Z10, though we’re still not convinced this fellow has what it takes to change the Canadian company’s financial misfortune.
Remember, rumor has it the A10 Z30 will sport a 5-inch OLED 720p display, plus a dual-core Snapdragon processor (probably an S4 Pro), 2 GB of RAM and 8 MP rear-facing camera. And no, it’s not 2011, but apparently BB doesn’t know that.
Meanwhile, the newly emerged Z30 “chaperone” has just a potential market name and a few fairly suspicious photos. There are no specs yet, but since this thing could be called Z15, a couple of technical improvements over the current Z10 are a must.
The dubious part about the leak is the phone’s sliding design, which is not only outdated, but, let’s face it, pretty ugly. Oh, well, the retractable physical keyboard might add some much needed functionality to the gizmo, so maybe if the Z15 does prove to be the real deal, it will draw some attention after all.
Now, I’m certain you’re curious when you should expect the two BlackBerry smartphones to see daylight. In all honesty, I really have no idea, but chances are at least the Z30 will be around in time for the holidays.
After all, there must be a reason why everyone is talking about it and we’d be fools to believe the clips embedded below, which are part of a tutorial for the device, have been uncovered by mistake.
