RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry N series will not include the iconic BlackBerry trackpad that we all associate many of RIM’s smartphone to.

According to n4bb.com, RIM developers will eliminate the trackpad from the N series by augmenting the QWERTY keyboard to favor a more touch favored interface.  Eliminating the trackpad will not only make the N series devices look sleeker, but it also adds additional real estate to the touch screen.

The days of running your fingers on the trackpad to navigate the menus and contents of a BlackBerry may come to an end soon, but the physical keypad will remain a key component for many who prefer it.  Now, will RIM ever succeed in creating a full touch screen device that can compete with Android and iOS?  That’s totally different discussion, but for now it’s “goodbye trackpad” for the N series.
