Beijing BOE Optoelectronics Technology (BOE OT), an affiliate of the China-based BOE Technology Group (BOE Group), has received orders for 17-inch LCD monitor panels from Samsung Electronics and plans to raise prices for the segment, sources said.

BOE OT declined to confirm the orders but indicated the BOE Group has been working with Samsung in the back-end module business.

The company also stated it may raise its prices for 17-inch panels. Prices for 17-inch LCD monitor panels currently stand at US$ 160, according to WitsView Technology.

BOE OT’s fifth-generation (5G) plant started processing glass substrates in March and currently has a monthly capacity of 10,000 units. The company is expected to finish its final stage equipment installation by May to reach a monthly capacity of 60,000 substrates, according to sources at BOE OT. The plant currently mostly produces 17-inch LCD monitor panels; however, it can also produce 15-inch monitor panels, 15.4-inch notebook panels and 20.1-, 26- and 32-inch LCD TV panels.
