Basically, when you buy digital items (MP3s, videos, etc…) off iTunes you don’t actually “own” it per say.  The music that you’re listening to and videos that you’re watching belong to you until you die, and once you’re dead any sort of ownerships you had before are gone.  So, to be a little more precise, when you buy something off iTunes, you’re actually renting it until you die.

Willis didn’t know that, but now he does.  He wants to pass on his huge music library to his kids, and according to The Sun, he is “backing legal moves to increase rights of downloaders.”

There’s a way to get around the terms and conditions by setting up a trust for his kids, but in the meantime, it is more likely that Willis will use his celebrity status to advocate some sort of change to iTunes’ current terms and conditions.

If you’re reading this and you weren’t aware of such terms before when making purchases on iTunes in the past, well then, now you know.  How do you feel about ‘owning’ but not really owning your iTunes stuff?  Does Willis have any rights to be pissed at Apple?  Comment below!
