Buffalo, leading provider of innovative network solutions and storage devices for the home and business, is preparing to release the DVSM-PC58U2V, its latest external DVD writer in Japan.

Measuring 145 x 19 x 153mm and weighing 340g, the compact writer is available in black, white or silver colors. It has two USB cables (1 for data & 1 for power) and supports write speeds of up to "8x for DVD-R/+R and DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-R/+R DL and DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, and 24x for CD-R/RW". The DVSM-PC58U2V, bundled with Power2Go 7 and InstantBurn 5, is expected to ship in mid-February at a MSRP of US$77 in Japan.
