Treyarch has revealed that it is revamping the popular Nuketown map for the upcoming first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

The original Nuketown was a small multiplayer map set in a fake town used for simulating nuclear effects on urban life, replete with mannequins and other interesting terrain.

Nuketown 2025 will involve a re-imagining of the classic map, though Treyarch is remaining tight-lipped about what this will involve. The combat will remain close-quarters like the original, but the setting will involve a 1960s conception of what a futuristic home would look like, giving that somewhat dated science-fiction appeal.

“Multiplayer fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops LOVE Nuketown,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. “Flat out, Nuketown was a blast to play before, and we're excited about the reimagined Nuketown 2025 in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. We can't wait to play with everyone come this November.”

The map will be given for free as a bonus download across all platforms to anyone who pre-orders the game before its release on 13 November.
