Canon EOS 5D Mark II Key Features

  • 21.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor
  • DIGIC 4 Processor with 14-bit analog to digital conversion
  • Expanded sensitivity range (ISO 100-6400, expandable to 50 to 25,600) with significantly lower noise
  • Continuous shooting at 3.9 frames per second, with burst rates up to 78 jpeg/13 raw
  • Live view shooting with face detection function
  • Full-HD (1920 x 1080) movie recording at 30fps with sound an auto-focus
  • 150,000 shutter durability

When asked about the addition of face detection to a high end camera Canon commented that a survey conducted found that a great percentage of the time cameras are used to capture people especially faces. So, there was no reason why this feature should be left out of a high-end camera. Note the face detection only works when shooting in LIve view mode.

An interesting thing to note about the Hi-Definition video recording. The Canon is limited to 4GB per clip or 12 minutes for a hi-definition recording or at the standard VGA resolution (640 x 480) a little over 29 minutes of video can be recorded.
