Canon Digital IXUS 110 IS Review

A while ago, Canon added a new member to its Digital IXUS family, the Digital IXUS 110 IS (known as Canon PowerShot Digital ELPH SD 960 IS in the US).
The IXUS 110 IS is designed to fit into ultracompact point-and-shoot category, albeit not being the smallest in terms of physical size, nor any slimmer when compared to its brother, the IXUS 100 IS. But nonetheless, it is still packed with impressive performance and technology.
Canon is certainly generous with resolution, giving the IXUS 110 IS 12.1-megapixels rating and DIGIC 4 processor effectively allowing printing poster-sized photos. The camera also comes with a 28mm wide angle lens and 4x optical zoom (and 4x digital zoom).
The camera offers a Smart Auto mode that uses Canon’s innovative Scene Detection Technology to deliver the simplest point-and-shoot operation by auto determining the best settings for the camera, based on 18 pre-defined shooting situations.
The IXUS 110 IS can also double up as a video camera with the capability to shoot in High Definition movies (1280 x 720, 30fps) and is geared with HDMI output for playback on HDTV. The camera houses a 2.8-inch PureColor II widescreen LCD with 16:9 aspect ratio, providing full screen playback of the HD captures.
