Canon multimedia projectors designed for photographers and AV specialists
Canon has launched two new multimedia projectors for the photographers and AV specialists – XEED WUX10 Mark II and XEED SX80 Mark II. The two LCOS projectors come with “Photo Image” and “DICOM Simulation” modes for stellar colour reproduction and medical-grade precision.
Canon XEED SX80 Mark II
Singapore, 22 December 2009 – Canon today boosts its portable projector line-up with the introduction of the XEED WUX10 Mark II and XEED SX80 Mark II.
These projectors feature a new Photo Image Mode that allows advanced colour management to compensate for ambient lighting conditions; and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) simulation mode that enables high-precision greyscale projection necessary for display of medical imagery.
With WUXGA resolution (1,920 x 1,200 pixels), the flagship WUX 10 Mark II projects widescreen images and Full High Definition (HD) video at 3,200 lumens, while the SX80 Mark II is a high-resolution SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050 pixels) model combining 3,000 lumens of brightness, a wide selection of video and audio inputs/outputs (HDMI and DVI included) with overall affordability. The projectors are ideal for displaying content in environments with fixed lighting such as educators presenting in classrooms, photographers showing their work in museums or for business presentations in varying venues.
Faithful projection: new Photo Image mode and DICOM Simulation mode
The Canon WUX10 Mark II and SX10 Mark II feature a new Photo Image mode, enabling users to adjust the projectors’ colour temperature and colour level in accordance with ambient lighting conditions to ensure faithful colour reproduction. Taking the existing light into consideration means that projected images appear the same as the sRGB original, making the WUX10 Mark II and SX80 Mark II ideal for professional photographic display.
Both projectors also incorporate a special preset DICOM SIM (simulation) display mode for high resolution greyscale images with unrivalled clarity – perfect for the display of medical images such as X-rays, CT (computed tomography) scans, and MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging). This new mode makes the WUX10 Mark II and SX80 Mark II suitable for use in lecture theatres, medical schools, academic meetings, and in-hospital conferences*.
*Projectors are intended for non-diagnostic applications only.

Connectivity and operation
In addition to analog and component inputs, the Canon WUX10 Mark II and SX80 Mark II feature HDMI and DVI inputs for the transfer of digital video. There is also an additional USB/PictBridge port on the SX80 Mark II to allow display of images directly from USB flash drives and compatible digital cameras. For added network connectivity, both projectors support remote monitoring and operation from a networked PC.
The WUX10 Mark II and SX80 Mark II operate at a near silent 32dBA and 31dBA respectively, in Quiet Mode. Automatic set-up also comes as standard for Focus, Keystone Correction, Input Selection and Screen Colour Correction which can be optimised at the touch of a button. For versatile mounting options, there are a variety of ceiling attachments for both models.
Pricing and availability
The Canon XEED WUX10 Mark II and SX80 Mark II will be available from early January 2010 at the recommended list prices of S$16,699 and S$6,999 respectively
