Canon PowerShot S100 slated for 8 December release

The Canon PowerShot S100 was showcased at Canon Singapore's event in September, and the company has said that the successor to the popular PowerShot S95 would be launched in early November. Unfortunately, we have not seen the compact digital camera in stores yet. According to online sources, the PowerShot S100 is slated for 8 December release instead.

The Canon PowerShot S100 was originally scheduled to be available in early November, but now, it looks like the successor to the popular PowerShot S95 is now slated for early December release; the official release date has been determined to be on 8 December. Available in silver and black, the PowerShot S100 features a high-sensitive 12.1-Megapixel 1/1.7-type CMOS image sensor, enhanced HS system and new DIGIC 5 image processor, wide angle zoom lens and new built-in GPS to record location information to the picture's EXIF data. The estimated retail price is approximately ¥55,000 (or US$708).
